Adam Sweet wins Introducing Stage at The Great British Rock and Blues Festival, Skegness 2023

Adam Sweet and his band couldn’t have got their 2023 off to a better start. On Saturday 14th January they performed at The Great British Rock and Blues Festival for the first time and came away as winners of the Introducing Stage, as voted for by the capacity crowd at the Skyline Pavilion in Skegness.

Adam Sweet’s transition from respected Devon based guitar-slinger to fully-fledged independent blues/rock artist has really gathered pace since the release of his second studio album in 2020, and the latest guise of his live band is clearly hitting the sweet spot. Featuring Garry Kroll on drums, Paddy Blight on bass and Thomas Hughes on Hammond organ they rattled through a 45 min set of original rollicking roots-rock and brooding blues, winning over many new fans in the process.

“My first time at the Great British Rock & Blues Festival did not disappoint! There was a wonderful atmosphere, the crowd were fabulous and we enjoyed every minute of our performance. We got to witness some terrific bands throughout the day on the Introducing Stage and made a lot of new friends…but to win the audience vote was the icing on the cake!

"It’s such a privilege for me to be able to perform with this band, and I’m really looking forward to recording some new music with them this year and seeing what the future has in store for us.”

- Adam Sweet

Their prize would ordinarily have been a return to a main-stage slot at the 2024 festival but sadly this was the last Great British Rock & Blues festival to be held at Skegness. However Adam and his band will be appearing at another festival hosted by concert promoters Solid Entertainments soon (venue/date TBC).

Happy New Year folks!

Happy New Year folks. I hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas holiday and are looking forward to getting stuck into 2023!

I’m glad to be kicking off this new year with a couple of shows with my band, featuring the talents of Garry Kroll on drums, Paddy Blight on bass and Thomas Hughes on keys…

First up this Saturday 7th January we’ll be blowing out the cobwebs at The Ropemakers in Bridport from 9pm.

Then the following weekend we’re off to Skegness to play the Great British Rock and Blues Festival. You’ll find us on the Introducing Stage on Saturday 14th at 5pm.

And looking further ahead…I’m pleased to say that following a successful night opening for Wishbone Ash back in November we’ve been invited back to the Exeter Phoenix again, this time to support Southern Rock legends Molly Hatchet on Friday 7th July. Hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, this will be the only show they’ll be playing in the South West as part of their UK tour so it’s a real privilege to be a part of it. Tickets have just gone on sale and once again you can do us a favour by buying yours direct from my website at https://adamsweetmusic.com/event...

More details for all the above can be found at https://adamsweetmusic.com/shows and I'll be adding more gigs soon, so be sure to keep checking in.

Thanks for the continued support in 2022 and hope to see you soon.

Much love

Adam

Adam Sweet Band supporting Wishbone Ash, and other gig news

Hi folks,

Hope you’re all well. Sorry it’s been a little while since I’ve been in touch on here but I’ve got a few nuggets of gig news to share with you…

On Friday 11th November I’ll be back with my band at the Exeter Phoenix, this time supporting rock legends Wishbone Ash! We'll be playing a 45 minute opening set before they perform their groundbreaking 'Argus' album in full for the first time, celebrating the 50th anniversary of its release.

Tickets for this show can be purchased direct from my website at https://adamsweetmusic.com/event/4813742/613635009/adam-sweet-band-at-exeter-phoenix-supporting-wishbone-ash

(As the support act we get a decent cut of any tickets we sell direct to our fans and followers, so you’ll be doing us a big favour by buying direct – thanks!)

Also in Exeter in November I’ll be performing at ‘Library Lates’ - part of the After Hours at Exeter Library series on Friday 18th November. I’ll be playing a solo acoustic set at this one. The evening will also feature my friend Jess McAllister and her band. Full details and tickets at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/library-lates-tickets-379807924727?aff=ebdsoporgprofile

And then looking ahead to January 2023…I’ll be taking my band to the Great British Rock and Blues Festival! The festival takes place at Butlin’s Skegness and we’ll be playing the Introducing Stage on Saturday 14th Jan at 5pm. Tickets for this at https://www.bigweekends.com/weekends/the-great-british-rock-blues-festival

Now the summer has been and gone we’re starting to add more gigs so keep checking the website and I’ll do my best to keep you all up to date.

Thanks for reading, keep in touch and hopefully see you at a gig somewhere soon!

Lots of love

Adam

Dead Flowers - new single out now!

Hi folks,

A quick note to let you know my new single 'Dead Flowers' is out today!

I recorded this Rolling Stones cover earlier this year after so many of you were requesting the song during my Facebook livestream shows. It was recorded at home in my little studio from where I was broadcasting those livestreams and it proved to be a perfect project to get stuck into during lockdown.

The track features my band Ian Jennings on bass and Garry Kroll on drums, with harmony vocals by the lovely Alex Hart. It was produced and mixed by myself and mastered by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering.

You can find the track in all the usual places including Spotify, Amazon and Apple Music via the following link distrokid.com/hyperfollow/adamsweet/dead-flowers

It's also available on Bandcamp at adamsweetmusic.bandcamp.com/track/dead-flowers

And of course you can get the track direct from my website as a choose-your-price download adamsweetmusic.com/music

I really hope you enjoy the new single. Thanks to all of you who have been streaming, downloading and sharing the track already today…your support is hugely appreciated!

Cheers!

Adam

Gig news and a new single coming soon!

Hi folks,

Hope you’re all keeping well. It’s been a while but I’m so pleased to say more gigs are starting to appear in the diary, so I wanted to let you know of a few full-band shows that are happening in the coming weeks…

This Sunday 18th July we’ll be at the Yarty Party Festival in Axminster, taking to the Big Top Stage around 3pm. Also playing in the Big Top on Sunday are our friends Pshcyadelephant, Ruby Cross and Jonah Hitchens. Day and weekend tickets are available – full details at yartyparty.co.uk

Thursday 29th July the Teign Jazz & Blues Club are once again hosting us for an evening show at the Old Commercial in Bishopsteignton. We had a great time here back in September, and this time we’ll be joined by our buddy Ian Briggs on harmonica. Tickets are available for £12 from the Old Commercial (01626 775285) and Regent Style, Teignmouth (01626 778858).

On Friday 6th August you can catch us at the Ocean City Blues n Jazz Festival in Plymouth. This is a free weekend-long festival taking place on the Barbican – we’ll be on stage at 5pm on the Friday evening.

In other news, I’m excited to say my new single ‘Dead Flowers’ is coming out on 30th July! After so many requests for this song during my livestream shows I decided to record a version at home – a little lockdown project that’s turned out rather nicely and is already starting to pick up some radio play. I’ll let you know more about it soon, but it’s available to pre-save for Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes and Amazon users now here

I must give a special mention to my friends at The Red Dress who I think you'll agree have done a wonderful job on the artwork.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing some of you out there at one of these real gigs!!

All the best,

Adam
